Subtle Lovers

Subtle Lovers is a genre-fluid music collective from Reno, Nevada, founded in 2019 by lead vocalist Peter Barnato and bassist Adam Carpenter. What began as an intimate acoustic duo quickly evolved into an 11-piece ensemble featuring trumpet, backup vocals, keys, guitars, saxophone, and more. The collective channels the spirit of ’70s AM Gold while maintaining the vibrant energy that has made their main project, Moondog Matinee, a powerhouse in the Reno music scene for nearly a decade.

Rooted in human experience and emotion, Subtle Lovers’ orchestral arrangements create moments of breath and clarity that can quickly shift into chaos and paranoia. With each instrument fitting seamlessly into the overall composition rather than focusing on individual showmanship, their music twists and winds without following a conventional path. The band has performed at OffBeat Music Festival and throughout Northern Nevada, earning recognition as a collective of Reno’s finest and most innovative musicians.
