Spencer Kilpatrick and the Sand Gators are a Reno-based band specializing in psychedelic R&B—a ragged combination of garage rock, rhythm & blues, and Americana they call “single-wide soul music.” The band features Spencer Kilpatrick on guitar and vocals, Ivan Gates on bass, Rachael McElhiney on baritone saxophone, Alex Lemnah on keys, Zach Peach on drums, and Dani Taylor on guitar. Their sound blends fuzz guitar, spacey keys, and dynamic sax work with Kilpatrick’s well-worn, whiskey-soaked voice.

Hailing from somewhere between the sun-baked desert and I-80, the Sand Gators move from pounding R&B to psychedelic meanderings to introspective Americana. They’ve performed at OffBeat Music Festival and venues throughout the West Coast, delivering groovy, danceable live shows that mix original material with covers ranging from Led Zeppelin to Ariana Grande.
