Mark Rivera
Mark Rivera, known as Kidnetick, is a Puerto Rican artist from Santurce specializing in large-scale mixed-media sculptures and experiential street art. His artistic journey began twenty years ago as a musician, initially working as a set carpenter in the film industry before expanding into art direction and construction coordination. His travels exposed him to diverse creative environments worldwide, allowing him to collaborate with artists and contribute to projects for urban performing artists. In 2013, Rivera moved to Santurce, where his home became a gathering space for the burgeoning street art movement, and he found his voice in sculptural work blending street art with sculptural elements.
Drawing inspiration from urban landscapes, industrial materials, and abstract concepts, Rivera’s work reflects a bold fusion of structure and spontaneity. His notable works include “Hábitat” (Burning Man 2024), a 14-foot heart-shaped sculpture of hundreds of homes with sensor-triggered lighting symbolizing communal living and harmony, and “Jíbaro Soy” on Reno’s Neon Line, honoring Puerto Rican farmers and culture. In 2023, Rivera was awarded the Burning Man Project Honoraria grant and relocated to California to build for the festival. His sculptures are crafted purely by hand, guided by intuition and artistic spirit without computer programs.
