Mark Farina

Mark Farina is a house music icon and the pioneering creator of “Mushroom Jazz,” a genre-defining blend of acid jazz, downtempo grooves, and urban beats. Originally from Chicago, Farina emerged in the late 1980s alongside house music legends Derrick Carter, beginning his DJ career at age 16 and establishing a legendary residency at Smart Bar that continues to this day.

After relocating to San Francisco in 1992, Farina launched the influential Mushroom Jazz club night and released the celebrated compilation series on OM Records. Recognized by URB, MUZIK, and BPM magazines as one of the world’s top DJs, he continues to entertain millions of fans globally with over 100 shows annually while running his label Great Lakes Audio.
