Cruz Control
Cruz Control is a dynamic collective of veteran musicians from Reno’s vibrant music scene that seamlessly blends R&B, hip-hop, soul, and jazz into an innovative, modern sound. Led by nationally recognized drummer Miguel Jimenez-Cruz (born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of drummer Jose “Pepe” Jimenez who played with Carlos Santana), the band features Whitney Myer on vocals (The Voice alum), Vincenzo Pellegrino on keys, Zack Teran on bass, Lucas Arizu on guitar, and a rotating cast of guest musicians who contribute to their genre-defying performances.
Drawing inspiration from Hiatus Kaiyote, Lizzo, Childish Gambino, and Lauryn Hill, Cruz Control pushes musical boundaries with an avant-garde improvisatory edge. Their infectious energy and irresistible beats showcase both original music and bold re-imaginings of contemporary favorites. The collective has become a staple at venues throughout Reno and Northern Nevada, including regular performances at the Peppermill’s Terrace Lounge, and has captivated audiences at Artown and various summer concert series.
