Megan K. Miller, Project Director
Megan is a communications strategist and executive leader who builds community through art, story, and place. With 20+ years across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including a decade on Burning Man’s leadership team, she turns bold ideas into clear brand strategy, messaging, and programs that serve and inspire people. As founder of MKM Strategies, Megan helps mission-driven organizations and individuals clarify who they are, what they stand for, and how they show up. She began her career in electoral politics and government, and holds an Executive MSc in Cities from the London School of Economics.
Megan joined Western Lights as a volunteer in its inaugural year and saw how light and public space unite Reno. As Project Director, she’s establishing Western Lights as an independent nonprofit and shaping governance, partnerships, fundraising, and community engagement for lasting impact. Passionate about creative placemaking and inclusive urban revitalization, she believes that when art meets place, cities become more connected, joyful, and alive.
